The Rev'd David Perryman aka Dave

Dave originates from the seaside of Cape Paterson near Wonthaggi. Ever since he can remember Dave had a sense of being called into ministry, even as a young child. Dave completed Year 12 originally setting out to be a forensic scientist, pilot and policeman among other things. The call to ministry however drew him into study and formation.

Dave worked at KFC for 11 years whilst completing his studies to become an Anglican Minister. He was ordained Deacon in 2016 and Priest in 2017 shortly after arriving in Avon. He is married to Emma, and they are parents to Tim, Eli, Jacob and Luci.

Dave’s interests include reading, gaming, cricket, music and spending time with his family.

Welcome to the Parish of Avon

Anglican worship in the Stratford district dates back to around 1845. More than twenty years later, local Anglicans including Alexander Hamlyn and John King came together with the purpose of building a permanent place of worship. Holy Trinity opened on 2 September 1868 and has remained a place of worship, fellowship and service to the Stratford community ever since.

Generations of local families have worshipped within its walls, a connection celebrated in 2018 when the parish marked Holy Trinity's 150th anniversary. Today, Holy Trinity continues that story as part of the Anglican Parish of Avon — honouring those who have gone before while remaining a living community of faith for the generations still to come.

St Mary’s of the Virgin has served the Munro community for more than a century. The church was first licensed and dedicated on 23 April 1922 by Bishop G. H. Cranswick and the Rev’d Allan Adeney, Rector of Stratford. Built through the faith and commitment of local families, St Mary’s continues today as a place of worship and community in the Parish of Avon.

All Saints’ has served the Briagolong community for more than a century. The present red-brick church was built in 1908, with its foundation stone laid by local philanthropist Rebecca Mills of Powerscourt on 9 April that year. A fine example of Federation Gothic architecture, the church contains memorials reflecting generations of local Anglican life and service.

The parish's connection with the wider district reaches even further back. The timber church now standing behind All Saints as its hall was originally opened at The Heart on 29 September 1884, before eventually being relocated to Briagolong in 1978.

Why Give...

Generosity is about far more than money. It is one of the ways we respond to what we have received and participate in making a difference in the lives of others.

As Christians, we believe that what we have - our time, abilities, possessions and resources - is entrusted to us to be used with gratitude and generosity. Jesus calls us not simply to believe in love, but to put love into action: caring for our neighbours, seeking justice, offering welcome and sharing with those in need.

Through Avon Anglicans, generosity takes many forms. It helps sustain worship and ministry across our parish; supports practical care and connection within our local community; enables the work of the Avon Op Shop; and reaches far beyond us through the organisations and projects we support each month.

Giving isn't measured simply by how much we give, but by what our giving makes possible.

You can support the life and work of Avon Anglicans through a financial gift, by donating preloved goods, volunteering your time and talents, or simply by becoming involved.

Leaving a Legacy...

There is also another form of generosity - one which can continue long after our own lifetime.

Some people choose to remember their church in their Will, giving thanks for what the Church has meant in their lives and helping ensure that its worship, care, welcome and service can continue for generations still to come.

A bequest need not be large to make a difference. It might be a particular amount, an asset, or a small share of an estate after family and loved ones have been provided for.

A gift in your Will is more than something left behind. It can be something passed forward - an expression of faith, hope and generosity entrusted to those who come after us.
